You basically need to concern yourself with two settings here: Transmit Power and Minimum RSSI. The ideal AP power setting is just low enough that devices won't try to connect to the AP when they're too far away to reliably transmit to it. If the AP power is too high, devices will be able to receive a good signal from the AP when they're too far away to transmit back to it. The limiting factor in a Wi-Fi connection is almost always the radio in the device, not the AP.
